Brownie cake

Brownie cake is a delicious fusion of a classic brownie and a cake, giving you the rich, fudgy texture of a brownie in a cake format. It’s perfect for those times when you want a dense, chocolatey dessert that’s a bit more substantial than traditional brownies. Here’s a simple and indulgent recipe for brownie cake:

Ingredients

For the Brownie Cake:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)

For the Frosting (optional):

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pans:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or a 9x9-inch square pan. Alternatively, you can line the pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Brownie Cake Batter:

    • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until well combined.
    • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
    • Stir in the cocoa powder until fully combined.
    • Add the flour, salt, and baking powder, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks if using.
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  3. Bake the Brownie Cake:

    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). The cake should be set but still fudgy.
    • Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then transfer to the wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Prepare the Frosting (if using):

    • In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
    • Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low speed until combined.
    • Add the milk one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
    • Mix in the vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
  5. Frost the Cake (optional):

    • Once the brownie cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
    • You can also add sprinkles, extra chocolate chips, or a drizzle of melted chocolate for extra decoration.
  6. Serve:

    • Cut into squares or slices and serve.

This brownie cake is rich and chocolatey, perfect for any chocolate lover. It can be enjoyed as is, or dressed up with frosting and toppings for a more indulgent treat. Enjoy!
